Summary & Background: On February 8, 2024, Quality Cleaning Services, Inc. notified the County of its decision to be released from its contractual obligation of providing janitorial services to Group G (South Senior Centers) effective March 1, 2024 (see Exhibit #1).
The Contractor is being terminated pursuant to Article 14, Termination for Convenience where the County may terminate the Agreement (without fault), for its convenience at any time by a written notice to the Contractor.
The BOC approved the renewal of an existing contract #21ITB130447C-GS (last and final option #2) with Quality Cleaning Services, Inc. in the amount of $261,756.00 on December 15, 2023, as Item #23-0904, for FY2024 with effective dates of January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024. The remaining balance is $219,078.00.
A separate agenda item will be presented requesting approval of the next lowest and responsible bidder, Chi-Ada Corporation, to assume janitorial responsibilities for Group G (South Senior Centers) for the remaining 10 months of FY2024, effective March 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024.
Scope of Work: This contract furnishes all materials, labor, tools, janitorial equipment cleaning supplies, restroom supplies (including feminine products, soap, toilet seat covers, toilet tissue, paper towels, and other required supplies) and equipment necessary to provide the highest quality janitorial services at these selected County facilities which consists of:
Community Impact: The overall community impact is to provide clean and sanitary facilities for the selected County facilities.
Department Recommendation: The Department of Real Estate and Asset Management recommends approval.
Project Implications: This contract is designed to provide and maintain sustainable clean and sanitary County facilities. The effective cleaning program is a critical component in keeping a healthy and productive environment.
Community Issues/Concerns: None of which the Department is aware.
Department Issues/Concerns: If this termination for convenience is not approved, the Department will not be able to provide janitorial services for these selected County facilities in Group G (South Senior Centers) for the remaining 10 months for FY2024.
