Summary & Background (First sentence includes Agency recommendation. Provide an executive summary of the action that gives an overview of the relevant details for the item.)

Request approval to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Fulton County School Police, a political subdivision of the State of Georgia, for the provision of 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Services to provide the vital and necessary communications link between the Fulton County Schools and the Fulton County Department of Emergency Services-911 through use of the County’s consolidated 911 call reception and radio dispatching of requests of public safety services.  The County and the School Police desire to enter into a new Intergovernmental Agreement (the “911 IGA”) for the County to provide a public safety answering point within the boundaries of the Fulton County.

The 911 IGA establishes the cost of Enhanced 9-1-1 Emergency call reception and public safety radio dispatch services to be provided by the County to the Fulton County School Police.  The County and the School Police desire to maintain a mutually beneficial, efficient, and cooperative relationship that will promote the interests of the citizens of the County. The County operates a consolidated public safety answering point in its Emergency Communications Center on a 24-hour basis, 365 days per year, staffed in two (2) 12-hour shifts each day from which the services contemplated under this Agreement will be rendered.

The County is entitled to impose an annual cost for dispatch services of $258,844, as provided by O.C.G.A. § 46-5-134

The Board of Commissioners at their regular meeting (Item #17-0555 on 8/2/2017) approved the provision of 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Services with Fulton County School Police.
