Summary & Background

Scope of Work: Atlanta Public Schools (APS) has requested that the $250,000.00 award allocated to APS in the FY2023 Budget for the Department of Community Development be awarded instead to its foundation, Atlanta Partners for Education (APFE).  There are no changes in terms and conditions of the award, and services will continue to be provided at the same level required for the award.

Community Impact: APS has set forth the mission that through a caring culture of equity, trust, and collaboration, every student will graduate ready for college, career, and life. This mission is accompanied by a strong vision for APS to be a high-performing school district where students love to learn, educators inspire, families engage, and the community trusts the system.

Department Recommendation: Recommend approval.

Project Implications: On January 18, 2023, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved a $250,000 increase in the FY2023 Budget for the Department of Community Development to be allocated specifically to Atlanta Public Schools (APS). APS subsequently requested that payment reflect the APS foundation name, Atlanta Partners for Education, on official county documents going forward.
