Scope of Work: In 1984, a contract was entered between Fulton County, DeKalb County, and the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority to address the medical care needs of the Counties’ citizens and the acquisition and construction of adequate and necessary hospital facilities. That contract was subsequently amended by Amendments 1 through 5. The original contract, along with the five amendments (generally known as the “Operating Contract”), had a term of thirty (30) years ending December 31, 2013. The Operating Contract was subsequently extended on several occasions, the last two extensions being on October 18, 2018 (Item No. 17-0841) and on December 18, 2019 (Item No. 19-1111) for two years. The last extension ends on December 31, 2021. In order to continue Fulton’s County’s support of medical services and hospitalization for of the County’s citizens, the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority has proposed to extend the current agreement for two years, ending on December 31, 2023. DeKalb County has also been asked to extend their agreement for two years.
Community Impact: An extension of the agreement would have a countywide impact, especially on the Fulton County’s indigent community in need of medical care.
