Request approval to renew an existing contract - Department of Medical Examiner, for Forensic Pathology Staffing Services on an as needed basis in an amount not to exceed $252,000.00 ($3,000.00 per day) with Forensic Pathology Staffing to provide part-time or intermittent forensic autopsy services for the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office on an as needed basis. This action exercises the first of two renewal options. One renewal option remains. Effective dates: January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022. (APPROVED)

In accordance with Purchasing Code Section 102-394(6), the Purchasing Department shall present all renewal requests to the Board of Commissioners at least 90 days prior to the contract renewal date, 60 days if the contract term is six (6) months or less.

Summary & Background:
This contract will provide part-time or intermittent forensic autopsy services for the FCME on an as needed basis to address unanticipated, critical staffing shortages, peak workloads, unexpected emergencies, vacation coverage or services needs that are sporadic or unpredictable in nature.
The ME’s Office current accreditation status necessitates a reliance upon these part-time and intermittent services provided by the Independent Contractors to address peak workloads, unexpected emergencies, vacation coverage, service needs that are sporadic or unpredictable in nature, and to ensure compliance with the accrediting agency: National Association of Medical Examiners. The not to exceed amount was derived by $3,000 per day x & days per month = $21,000 monthly x 12 months = $252,000.00 annual.
