Scope of Work: The Fulton County District Attorney ability to preserve physical evidence obtained during criminal investigations is critical for prosecuting those individuals charged with committing crimes within the jurisdictional limits of Fulton County. The approval of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners is being requested by the Office of the Fulton County District Attorney to execute a lease agreement for the purpose of acquiring warehouse and office space totaling 32,925 square feet at 6215 Fulton Industrial Boulevard, Atlanta, Georgia.   The subject warehouse and office space will be utilized to store physical evidence that will be used for criminal prosecutions.    In accordance with County Policy the approval of the Fulton County  Board of Commissioner’s is required prior to executing or modifying the terms of all contractual agreements in which the County is a party to the agreement.  Pending approval of the Board of Commissioners the monthly rental payments of $14,953.44 per month shall become effective on the date that the Lease Agreement is fully executed by the Chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners and the Landlord.   Effective January 1, 2022, the monthly rental rate will be increased annually on each succeeding January 1st during the lease Term and any Renewal Term by three percent (3%) of the annual installment of rent payable during the previous year. In no event shall this lease continue beyond December 31, 2027 unless extended by mutual consent and preserve criminal evidence.

 

Community Impact:  All communities within Fulton County’s municipal limits are collaterally impacted by the effective operations of the Office of the Fulton County District Attorney, the approval of the lease agreement is also indicative of the District Attorney’s commitment to efficiency when prosecuting those individuals charged with criminal acts.

 

Department Recommendation: The Department of Real Estate and Asset Management recommends approval of a new lease agreement to acquire warehouse storage and office space that are necessary for the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office to maintain and preserve criminal evidence. 

 

Project Implications: Leasing of the proposed warehouse space is consistent with countywide initiative that Fulton Government is efficient, effective and fiscally sound; to manage its finances wisely; and to develop and follow policies that promote both efficient and effective practices in all areas to include the provision of services to affected communities.
