Summary & Background Request approval to utilize cooperative purchasing to purchase veterinary and related medical equipment for the new Fulton County Animal Shelter Facility.
Scope of Work: This Cooperative Purchasing Contract will allow the County to purchase veterinary and related medical equipment for the new Fulton County Animal Shelter Facility.
Proposed equipment to be purchased under this recommendation includes, but is not limited to, the following:
• Autoclaves
• Counter, Wall Mounted and Mobile Anesthesia Machines
• Anesthesia Monitoring Equipment
• Digital and Dental X Ray Machines
• Surgery Tables
• Warming Units and Blankets
• Suction Aspiration Units
• Portable Ultrasound Equipment
• Patient Monitoring Equipment
• Microscope
• Walk-On and Counter Weighing Scales
• Various Surgical Instruments
Purchase of this proposed equipment is necessary to meet the criteria set forth for the new FCAS facility and will serve to provide current and future animal welfare services to the community.
Community Impact: This effort and impact are necessary for the new FCAS that is economical, efficient, and fully functional to meet the long-term space and service needs of the community which creates a healthy environment to the citizens of Fulton County.
Department Recommendation: The Department of Real Estate and Asset Management recommends approval to utilize cooperative purchasing to purchase veterinary and related medical equipment for the new Fulton County Animal Shelter Facility located at 1251 Fulton Industrial Boulevard, Atlanta, Georgia 30318.
The Department of Real Estate and Asset Management, Project Management Team will work in collaboration with the veterinary supply company for the purchase and delivery of the required veterinary and related medical equipment for the new Fulton County Animal Shelter Facility.
Project Implications: This effort and impact are necessary to allow the purchase of veterinary and related medical equipment because the equipment in the existing animal shelter is insufficient for the new FACS facility under construction and must be replaced and upgraded. The current equipment has a limited inventory, generally outdated, operates at a poor performance level, and does not meet current animal services regulations. It is insufficient for the enhanced veterinary services such as spay and neuter programmed for the new, much larger, FCAS facility.
Community Issues/Concerns: None of which the Department is aware.
Department Issues/Concerns: If this Cooperative Purchasing Contract is not approved, the Department will not have the ability to purchase the necessary required veterinary and related medical equipment for the new Fulton County Animal Services Facility.
