Request approval of a Resolution approving a Neighborhood Service Center Lease between the City of Atlanta (Lessor) and Fulton County (Lessee) for the use of approximately 5,237 rentable square feet of office space at 215 Lakewood Way, S.E., Atlanta, Georgia, at the fixed monthly rental rate of $4,800.58 for the initial lease term commencing January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024, with two (2) consecutive one-year automatic renewal options, for continued use as a replacement facility for senior services previously provided at the Bethlehem Senior Center; to authorize the Chairman to execute the Lease agreement and related documents; to authorize the County Attorney to approve the Lease agreement as to form prior to execution by the Chairman. Scope of Work: Approval of the Fulton County Board of Commissioner is being requested to extend the lease term for the Fulton County Department of Aging and Youth Services at 215 Lakewood Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia. The current lease agreement at this location was approved at the Board of Commissioners meeting held December 16, 2020, as Agenda Item 20-0947, and will expire December 31, 2023.
Community Impact: Senior citizens that attend this Neighborhood Senior Center facility will receive meals, nutritional and health education, health screenings, access to fitness activities, and the opportunity for social interaction with other seniors and staff from the same accessible location within the community.
Department Recommendation: The Department of Real Estate and Asset Management, DREAM, recommends approval of the lease agreement from January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024, with two (2) one-year renewal terms for the purpose of providing neighborhood senior services.
Project Implications: Approval of this lease agreement will allow the Fulton County Department of Aging and Youth Services to continue their occupancy and provide their services from the current location without an interruption in services. Fulton County Neighborhood Senior Centers are strategically located within the County for the purposes of enhancing the quality of life of residents 60 years of age and older through education, support, referrals, and free and or low-cost services.

History of BOC Agenda Item: The Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved the initial lease agreement for this location at the Board of Commissioners’ meeting held February 15, 2017, as Agenda Item 17-0147, and the subsequent lease agreement was approved at the Board of Commissioners meeting held December 16, 2020, as Agenda Item 20-0947.
