Summary & Background: The Department of Public Works requests approval to increase the spending authority with Michael Baker to provide design, engineering, and construction services in 2024.
Scope of Work: This contract amendment encompasses the additional work required to fulfill the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) grants for improvements at the Fulton County Executive Airport - Charlie Brown Field. These grants were approved by the BOC on September 18, 2024, as part of Agenda Item No. 24-0586. The scope of this specific project is the design of the rehabilitation of Runway 8/26. It is essential that the design is completed in time to meet the GDOT bid opening deadline in the first quarter of 2025. The design work will be executed by Michael Baker International, ensuring compliance with all FAA and GDOT Aviation Specifications.

Department Recommendation: Public Works recommends approving the increase in contract authority to cover the additional work outlined in the grant. If this item is not approved, the Airport will be unable to meet the grant deadline.
