The Department of Real Estate and Asset Management (DREAM) recommends approval of this Lease Agreement. The Sandy Springs site includes a Reading Garden, located on Tax Parcel ID 17-007100010346, which features a walking meditation labyrinth and benches where patrons can enjoy reading. Under the Lease Agreement, Sandy Springs will have the right to use, maintain and operate the Reading Garden: as a reading garden, a public green space, a public park, library programming,  and for programming. The Lease Agreement is for a period of twenty (20) years. However, Fulton County can terminate the Lease Agreement at any time upon ninety (90) days written notice should Fulton County need to utilize the Reading Garden area for expansion of the Sandy Springs Library or for additional parking spaces on the Library site.

 

Scope of Work:  Sandy Springs will provide maintenance, care, and landscaping services on the Reading Garden site. Such services shall include, but are not limited to,  mowing; tree trimming; fertilizing of plants; clearing of leaves and branches; repairing and/or replacing benches as needed; maintaining the labyrinth; ensuring the areas are free of any dangers or hazards; and other basic maintenance and repair on an as-needed basis.

 

Community Impact: The Lease Agreement will aid in the beautification of the area.

 

Department Recommendation: Approval.
