Request approval to renew an existing contract - Library, 21ITBC0407B-EC books for the Auburn Ave Research Library in the amount not to exceed $49,999.00 with Yankee Book Peddler Inc., dba Gobi Library Solutions (Contoocook, NH) to provide research material for Auburn Avenue Research Library patrons. Effective January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022. This is the first of two renewal options one renewal option remains. (APPROVED UPON ADOPTION OF THE CONSENT AGENDA)

In accordance with Purchasing Code Section 102-394(6), the Purchasing Department shall present all renewal requests to the Board of Commissioners at least 90 days prior to the contract renewal date, 60 days if the contract term is six (6) months or less.

Summary & Background The Fulton County Library System requested approval in 2016 of the recommended bidder to provide special books to the Auburn Avenue Research Library. Vendor had sufficient inventory to provide books for Auburn Avenue Research Library on the history, culture and politics of peoples of African descent throughout the world particularly in Africa, the Americas and Europe
Scope of Work: The vendor will provide scholarly publications on the African, African American, and African Diaspora experience for the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History (AARL). The contract is for a one year period with an option to renew for two additional years
Community Impact: Approving this action will provide citizens of Fulton County with a selection and quantities of books not found at any other branch location. Library patrons’ will have materials to support research on the African Diaspora, and other topics of interest regarding people of African descent.
Department Recommendation: The Fulton County Library System recommends approves the recommendation to renew this vendor.
Project Implications: Fulton County is the largest county in Georgia. Not providing this service negatively impacts a wide range of Fulton County citizens in every Fulton area code.
