Summary & Background

The Department of Human Resources Management recommends approval to amend the 2026 COLA Resolution, as adopted in the FY2026 Budget (#26-0032), to include Superior Court and State Court chamber staff as eligible COLA recipients.

The personal staff of elected judges in the Superior and State Courts were excluded from the 2026 COLA due to their compensation being governed by the Superior and State Courts Chamber Staff Plan.

The County Manager has confirmed that funds for the 2026 COLA in the FY 2026 budget are sufficient to extend the 2026 COLA to the personal staff in the Superior and State Courts Chamber Staff Plan.

This request once approved will also allow the County to work with both Courts on the future of their compensation structure
