Summary & Background

The Department of Senior Services recommends approval of the amendment to the existing Memorandum of Understanding with Quality Living Services (“QLS”) in the amount of $100,000.00, as allocated by the BOC on January 24, 2024. QLS has been a partner with the Department of Senior Services and Fulton County by delivering supportive services, classes and meals to Fulton County Seniors aged 60 and older. Although the Department of Senior Services does not operate the senior center managed by QLS, it is an extension of services for seniors within Fulton County.

Scope of Work: QLS, with this amendment and under the requirements of the Memorandum of Understanding, will be responsible for the employment of a qualified instructor to provide weekly fitness classes in the following subject areas: Stretch and Tone, Prime Fitness and Meditation, Water Exercise, Golf, Bowling, Circuit Training, Men’s Healthy Living and Healthy Cooking, will provide supplies related to the provision of the classes and congregate dining meals. A computer technology instructor employed by Fulton County will provide weekly classes in the following subject areas: Introduction to Computers and Keyboarding, Introduction to Microsoft Applications: (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher), Using the Internet (E-mail, Social Media, Zoom, etc.), Smart Phones and Cyber Security.

Community Impact: The additional funding will allow Quality Living Services to expand and provide senior services to additional seniors.

Department Recommendation: The Department of Senior Services recommends approval.

Project Implications:  This project is supported by enhancement funding approved in the adopted Fulton County budget for FY2024.

Community Issues/Concerns: Quality Living Services has a long-standing relationship with the community and will be able to continue their support of healthy aging through this approval.

Department Issues/Concerns: The department funds one part-time computer instructor that supports Quality Living Services.  Approval of this agenda item expands the department’s goal to support aging in place.
