Summary & Background The State of Georgia enacted HB 625, which authorizes the expansion of State Court capacity through the addition to two (2) new courtrooms. In response, the Solicitor-General, State Court Clerk, ad Public Defender submitted enhancement requests for FY2026 identifying the personnel and operational resources necessary to fully support these additional courtrooms.
The FY2026 Proposed Budget includes partial funding for these offices; however, partial staffing does not provide the operational capacity required to effectively support additional judgeships. Each office requires full staffing as outlined in their respective enhancement request to ensure continuity of curt operations, compliance with statutory obligations, and the fair and efficient administration of justice.
