Pursuant to the Fulton County Civil Service Act of 1982 (Section 3, Paragraph 1 - Powers, Duties and Responsibilities) and Section 001-16 (General Provisions) of the Fulton County Policies, any additions, rescissions and/or amendments to the Personnel Policies must be approved by the Board of Commissioners.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND (First sentence includes Agency recommendation. Provide an executive summary of the action that gives an overview of the relevant details for the item.)
Scope of Work: The Department of Human Resources Management recommends updating Policy303-16, Criminal Background Check, by replacing the word will with the word shall in the sentence that will now read, "A criminal background check shall be conducted at or prior to employment for every individual who is employed by Fulton County to fill either a full-time, part-time, seasonal or temporary position within the County." In addition, the following sentence has been added - A criminal background check may be required for current employees on a Department-wide basis in periodic intervals if established in a written supplemental departmental procedure. This update will help the County to both affirm and reaffirm (as with a transfer or promotion) an employee's eligibility to perform all duties and responsibilities.
