Scope of Work: The Department of Arts and Culture recommends the approval of a contract with Sizemore Group, LLC to assess opportunities for individuals with disabilities to fully utilize arts facilities in Fulton County as members of the audience, employees and performers. The study will provide recommendations which will impact programming and employment, as well as plans for facility upgrades and renovation. Additionally, this study is the first of its kind in the nation and will offer a best practices for engaging artists with disabilities suitable for venues around the United States.
The following are the County Objectives for this project:
- Assess opportunities for individuals with disabilities to fully utilize arts facilities in Fulton County as members of the audience, employees and performers.
- Develop recommendations which will impact programming and employment, as well as plans for facility upgrades and renovation.
- Assist in the development of best practices for engaging artists with disabilities suitable for regional and national usage.
- Share learnings from the study with the broader arts community via educational outreach and training.
In 2019, the Department was awarded $40,000 by the National Endowment for the Arts with a requirement to match this amount with cash, staff time or third-party in-kind support. The Department will be using a combination of staff time or in-kind support from arts and disability organizations.
Community Impact: This study is the first of its kind in the country, once completed it will provide guidance for venues not just within Fulton County, but nationally on how to ensure those with a disability can fully participate in all aspects of the performing arts.
Department Recommendation: The Department of Arts & Culture recommend approval.
After review, evaluation and consideration of all available information related to the requirements and evaluation criteria of the RFP, the Evaluation Committee has determined that the proposal submitted by With A Why, LLC (dba) Opportunity Arts. Opportunity Arts, is the recommended vendor for the award of #21RFP091521B-EC - Artist Selection Innovation Lab with a final score of 88.08%.
Project Implications: By not proceeding with this study, the County would be limiting our resident’s ability to participate in the performing arts.
