SUMMARY & BACKGROUND
The Department of Senior Services recommends approval of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Center for Visually Impaired. The Memorandum of Understanding allows the Department to include seniors with disabilities in receiving transportation to get to their medical appointments. The Department covers registration fees and trip charges. The Center for the Visually Impaired will provide referrals for seniors with disabilities to register with the program and receive transportation support.
Scope of Work: The Senior Alternative Transportation program will support this MOU and provides three (3) primary services to enhance existing transportation options for low-income seniors and seniors with disabilities: (1) training on the use of Transportation Network Companies (TNC's), (2) service registration and ride booking assistance, and (3) supplementation of the cost of TNC rider fares and service registration fees.
