Summary & Background

 

Scope of Work: This contract provides congregate, and home delivered meals, meal delivery, Adult Day Center meals, nutrition education and nutrition counseling for Fulton County residents aged 60 and above. The Department of Senior of Services is the County-based agency designated to provide Older Americans Act services within Fulton County. The department is responsible for the planning and coordination of Case Management, Congregate Meals (Neighborhood Senior Center), Home Delivered Meals, In-Home Services, and Transportation.

 

Community Impact: This contract will provide continued meal services to over 1,200 seniors aged 60 and above.

 

Department Recommendation: The Department of Senior Services recommends approval.

 

Project Implications: Georgia has the 11th fastest growing 60 plus population and the 10th fastest growing 85 plus population in the United States between years 2010-2030 (Source: Census 2010).  This service is part of the Home and Community based services program, addresses senior hunger and allows seniors to age at home and remain a part of their community.

 

Community Issues/Concerns: No issues or concerns have been raised by the Community regarding the Open Hand performance during the current contract period.
